What is holistic branding?

If you’re reading this right now, you’re probably wondering what holistic branding is. Maybe you’re even wondering what branding is at all. No worries, I’m here to explain it to you!

What is branding?
Branding is the creation and management of a company's identity. It is not only the visual appearance of a company, but also the communication (both internally and with the target group), the values and the overall customer experience. So it is incredibly broad. And incredibly important!
As a small business owner, you may think that branding is not really necessary for your business. Just a logo will do. After all, you have other priorities. But nothing could be further from the truth! No matter how big or small your business is, branding is always valuable. Think of it this way: good branding attracts your customers, without you having to actively work on marketing yourself.
What is good branding?
Branding actually consists of different layers. Layer one is the brand personality. This is the core of your branding and distinguishes you from all your competitors. For example, your brand personality consists of your mission and vision, your values, your tone of voice and your brand story.
Layer two is the concept of your branding: what feeling should a customer get from your business? What do you want to radiate and what associations should your brand have?
The third layer is the icing on the cake: the visual brand identity. In other words: the logo, the color palette, the fonts you use, the illustrations and photos on your website and social media, and so on. It is what brings your brand to life.
If you remove layer 1 and 2, your branding is just a beautiful package, but without content. That is why branding strategy is so important. Strategy is essential for good branding.
But what is holistic branding?
As a brand designer I offer holistic branding. By this I mean that as a designer I not only look at your company (your service or product, your target group, your mission & vision, etc.), but also at you. Your branding is - especially for smaller entrepreneurs - an extension of yourself. That does not mean that I blindly adopt what you like to see in your branding and what you find beautiful (because then we lose that strategy!), but I do look at what makes you special as an entrepreneur and as a person. This makes your company and your branding truly unique.
In addition, I will never design a branding without a foundation. Only a branding that is completely correct in all layers is holistic. And therefore also the strongest!
